Communications (9.0 credits)
ENGL 1110 (Minimum Grade: C), a second English course and a third communications course.
Plus 3.0 additional hours from the following:
ENGL 2210 (Professional & Technical Communication) is preferred.
Plus 3.0 additional hours in a communications course:
History (3.0 credits)
Any course with the HIST designation except for American Military History. Some follow-on schools have specific history requirements that should be checked prior to enrolling in a history course. Not all courses are offered each semester.
Humanities or Modern Language (6.0 credits)
A cadet must take 6.0 hours in humanities.
This requirement may be met by a language course (SPAN, CHIN, FREN, etc.):
a literature course (American or British):
a specific humanities or philosophy course:
or a second/third history course:
Laboratory Science (12.0 credits)
Three lab science courses are required, two of which must be sequential. Both the class and lab must receive a passing grade. Note: Computer Science courses (MCIS ####) do not count towards laboratory science graduation requirement.
And one from the following:
Cadet may take one from the list below or another laboratory science from the list above.
Mathematics (6.0 credits)
Two mathematics courses are required with MATH 1150 being the minimum allowable course.
Social & Behavioral Sciences (3.0 credits)
Courses designated as non-history social science courses. Courses listed are the most common courses offered, but other social science courses are available.
Creative & Fine Arts (3.0 credits)
Cadet must complete a minimum of 3.0 hours in Creative & Fine Arts. Please note, some courses within this area are less than 3.0 hours.
Military Science/Leadership (2.0 to 12.0 credits)
Cadets may take military science at NMMI. A contract cadet will take a maximum of 12.0 class hours of MS and 4.0 credits of physical activity. Cadets may take MS 1 and 2 to prepare for ROTC at a 4-year school. Cadets may take one semester of LEAD 1103 (Introduction to Leadership) or MSL each semester (totaling four MSL courses, not counting MSL 205) to satisfy this graduation requirement.
