MTH 034 - Algebra 2B

.50 High School Credits

Solving and graphing exponential equations/functions, logarithmic equations/functions, and quadratic equations/functions are extensively covered. Circles are considered from both an analytic and geometric approach. Factoring skills are further developed, leading to operations with rational expressions and equations. Functions are analyzed, including inverses, domain and range, piecewise, and average rate of change. Radical equations are solved, and the simplification of nth root radicals is developed. Concepts involving complex numbers are extended. Work on systems of equations is mastered, including context problems, three-variable, and non-linear systems. Special right triangles are introduced to complement further work with trigonometric operations. Basic statistics and probability are introduced.

Prerequisite(s): MTH 033 (Minimum grade: D).

Satisfies a Graduation Requirement: Math/Math Residency
When Offered: Fall
Note: NMMI graduates must successfully pass one year of NMMI mathematics at the Algebra 2 level or above.
