MTH 022 - Algebra 1B

.50 High School Credits
Algebra 1 B continues to build on the topics discussed in Algebra 1 A and will expand to simplifying rational expressions, solving absolute-value equations and inequalities, using functions notation, writing linear functions, using the Pythagorean Theorem, solving radical equations, solving rational equations, and solving quadratic equations. Algebra 1 B also emphasizes graphing parabolas, exponential functions, absolute value functions, and transformations of parent functions. Problems solving is stressed, especially regarding motion problems and problems involving systems of equations. Factoring polynomials and solving polynomial equations is highlighted. In addition, geometry topics include work with parallel and perpendicular lines.

Prerequisite(s): MTH 021 (Minimum grade: D).
