NMMI participates as a receiving school for the service academy preparatory programs. The non-profit Foundations from the Air Force, US Military Academy, and the Naval Academy sponsor qualified students to attend NMMI for one year and participate fully in both the academic program and the Corps of Cadets. Additionally, the SEAGRITS program sponsors students to attend NMMI for a year prior to being appointed to the Coast Guard Academy. NMMI also supports a similar program with the Merchant Marine Academy. Following a successful year at NMMI, these cadets may receive appointments to the academies.
This is a one-year program designed to prepare the service academy preparatory cadet seeking admission to a service academy.
Residency. A college cadet must earn a minimum of 32 credit hours at NMMI and spend two semesters in residence. Completion does not guarantee admission to a service academy.
