RUSN 1114 - Beginning Russian I


This is the first semester of a one-year Russian language course for students with no background in Russian.  The course introduces the Russian alphabet, basic vocabulary and grammar topics.  Students are expected to begin developing communicative competency in the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.  Students will learn to use expressions and vocabulary dealing with greetings, meeting people, identify and describe objects and people, give time and numbers, relate to activities, and other basic activities.  As communication in a foreign language requires understanding in a cultural context activities will include learning Russian through realistic situations and settings.  RUSN 1110L, lab component is a co-requisite for the course.
