MUS 002 - Beginning Band

0.50 High School Credits

This class is a continuation of MUS 001. Teamwork, Communication, Time Management, and Discipline are the keys to band class success. The band is a .50 credit per semester course designed to provide music fundamentals and entry-level performance experience and musical support for the Corps of Cadets throughout the academic year. Upon completion of this course, students will demonstrate a knowledge base for music including music notation, rhythm, harmony, and performance technique; demonstrate proficiency through performance; and recognize how music can be used to express ideas and feelings. Furthermore, the band is a representative of the Institution and it is significant to consider the band’s physical appearance. The regimental band’s music repertoire is marching band, pep band and concert band music.

Prerequisite(s): Instructor Permission (Freshman Level)

Satisfies a Graduation Requirement: Fine/Practical Art
