CHIN 2114 - Intermediate Chinese


Intermediate Chinese is the second year Chinese language course for students who initially had no background in Chinese and successfully completed both semesters of Beginning Chinese. This course fulfills part of the Humanities graduation requirement. Intermediate Chinese I continues the study of basic vocabulary and grammar topics and the development of the four language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students should be able to communicate at an intermediate level using the basic vocabulary and grammar covered up to this point and should be able to understand and produce paragraph-length passages. Additionally, students will gain insight into the language-learning process and the importance of possessing accurate cultural background information about the native speakers of other languages. The prerequisite for this course is successful completion of CHIN 1124 or departmental placement. This course contains a lab component.
